The Purdue Mall Fountain
stands 38 feet tall in the center of the Purdue Mall and
is made of 228 tons of concrete. The fountain was a gift
from the class of 1939 and was dedicated on their 50th
anniversary in 1989. The fountain sprays 588 gallons of
recycled water a minute April through August and dazzles
visitors with 280 colored lights that illuminate the
surging jets of water

All OBHR PhD students are required to:

Complete a minimum of 48 credits of
appropriate graduate coursework.

Complete and present to the OBHR
area a 606 research project by the Fall
of the 2nd year of the program.

Pass the content and methods prelim
examination.

Develop effective teaching skills
and to teach as needed by the OBHR area.

Competently contribute to research
projects that lead to papers being
submitted for presentation at national
conferences and for publication.

Seek a dissertation fellowship by
submitting a dissertation funding
proposal.

Submit and defend a dissertation
proposal.
-
Complete and defend a dissertation.
