Director, Corporate Decision Support, Technical Accounting and Consolidations
Mr. Flugel joined Air Products in 1998 on the MBA Career Development Program. He worked as a financial analyst in Merchant Gases and Tonnage Gases before moving to Treasury, where he provided support to the attempted acquisition of the former BOC Gases. In 2000, he began working in Air Products Industrial Chemicals Division as the Amines Business Controller. In this role, he managed a team of analysts that provided financial analysis support to three different strategic business units. His responsibilities increased to include support for the Polyurethane Intermediates business and he became the Industrial Chemicals Division Controller.
In 2005, Mr. Flugel was appointed Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis in the Corporate Treasury department, where he managed a team focused on financial and capital planning processes together with financial review responsibility for large capital projects. In 2006, he was appointed Controller for the Merchant Gases Segment. In this role, Russ had business decision support responsibility for the company's largest segment with six regional businesses located in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America and with significant equity affiliates around the world.
Mr. Flugel earned a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Purdue University.
