Bruce Olson is President of BBI Group, a private investment group, Chairman of Envisioneering Medical Technologies, a developer of ultrasound and biopsy products for the urology and radiation oncology markets, and Chairman of SmartKarton, a packaging company that manufactures boxes that eliminate the need for void fill.
Dr. Olson began his career with the Bank of New York, heading the company's New England commercial lending group. He then headed corporate development for St. Joe Minerals Corp. A promotion took him from New York to St. Louis, where he and his wife, Kim, co-founded an acquisition business called Group One Capital. Group One Capital acquired companies in areas as diverse as electric products distribution, beauty products distribution, sunglass retailing and luggage manufacturing.
Dr. and Mrs. Olson are well-known in the St. Louis area for their generosity with nonprofits. The St. Louis Children's Hospital and Mary Institute St. Louis Country Day School are among the beneficiaries. Dr. Olson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Administration, both from Purdue University. Purdue awarded him with an Honorary Doctorate in 2007.
