Mary Slater Jones currently serves as a Global Strategy Consultant for Shell Downstream Inc. Leveraging her experiences in multiple Shell businesses, knowledge of local and global markets and deep analytical skills, she has the opportunity to work with diverse teams as she helps solve some of the biggest challenges in and across Shell’s Downstream Businesses.
Mary excels in developing and applying business efficiency tools across commercial and supply chain areas. She is a skilled project and team leader with experience leading breakthrough projects. She has led projects ranging from revolutionizing the way small bulk packaging is handled within the lubricants industry to identifying opportunities for significant business improvement through strategy development and modification.
Her previous assignments within Shell span the Shell Chemicals and Shell Lubricants businesses in a variety of roles including sales, business analytics, supply chain and project management. Her roles at Shell have given her the opportunity to partner strong understanding of the business unit and marketplace with technical skills like business analytics to bring new perspectives.
In addition to other duties, Mary continues her passion for Purdue by leading the alumni campus recruiting effort at Shell. This involvement has allowed her to stay connected with students and faculty while further developing her skill set in a ‘non-traditional’ way.
Outside of work, she relaxes by playing, refereeing, and coaching soccer at youth, high school, and “big kid” levels. Additionally, she enjoys reading and participating in distance running events as she attempts to complete a half-marathon in each of the 50 states. She has previously served as an advisory board member for Purdue’s College of Health and Human Sciences.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management with concentrations in Finance and Marketing and an MBA with concentrations in Marketing, Operations, and Strategy, both from Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management.
