The
Krannert School of Management established the Business
Opportunity Program (BOP) in 1968 to increase diversity
and give underrepresented students access to a world-class
management education. The following year, Dr.
Cornell Bell was hired to run the program.
Under Dr. Bell's leadership,
BOP has grown into a nationally recognized
program that recruits, enrolls, educates, and provides
financial support for both undergraduate and graduate
students pursuing management careers. As chairman of
the Business Opportunity Program, Dr. Bell continues
his role as a mentor for Krannert students and alumni.
Each year, BOP recruits
highly qualified students, both in our own backyard
and from thousands of miles away. More than 800 students
pursuing bachelor's or master's degrees have benefited
from the program. Some graduates pursue destinations
in Fortune 500 firms, while others decide to start their
own companies.
The master's students receive support
from Business Opportunity Program funds made available
through private corporate donations and become role
models, mentors, and advisors to undergraduate BOP students.
