Mr. Darren L. Henry is from Indianapolis, Indiana. He is a Purdue University
undergraduate alumnus with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical
Engineering. While an undergraduate student, Mr. Henry was a member of the
National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and actively involved in the
Indianapolis community through INROADS, Inc., assisting Gleaners Food Bank
of Indiana, Lighthouse Mission, and Habitat for Humanity.
Upon graduation, Mr. Henry worked as a
consultant for several years in pharmaceutical manufacturing for clients
such as BioPort Corp., Schering Plough Products, LLC in Manatí, Puerto Rico,
and Eli Lilly & Co. In 2005, he received a call from the legendary Dr.
Cornell A. Bell summoning him to return to Purdue to pursue his Master in
Business Administration.
While in business school, Mr. Henry spent
most of his time mentoring undergraduate students in the Business
Opportunity Program. He developed strong bonds with the students after
serving as their course instructor for MGMT 243, "Contemporary Thought of
Minorities in Management." He also served as Vice President for the Krannert
Graduate Society of Black Managers (KGSBM) handling alumni relations and
community outreach. Under Mr. Henry’s direction, KGSBM was able to
substantially donate to the homeless in Lafayette, Indiana along with the
American Diabetes Association. During business school, he interned with
Boston Scientific Corp., and before returning to school, he was active as a
teen advisor within his church.
Mr. Darren L. Henry joined the Krannert
School of Management as the Director of Diversity Initiatives and the Dr.
Cornell A. Bell Business Opportunity Program (BOP) in 2007. As Director, he
is responsible for assisting with the recruitment of both undergraduate and
graduate underrepresented students, as well as the ongoing initiative of
enhancing the overall understanding of diversity and its impact in the
ever-changing environment.
Mr. Henry is an active member within the
National Black MBA Association and the 100 Black Men of Indianapolis.
