The main impetus for developing and operating the BIAC comes from two academic areas of Krannert – Management Information Systems and Quantitative Methods – which most directly relate to data analytics and management of information assets. Both have long been regarded highly in the academic arena at large and fared well in various rankings. For example, Purdue was ranked:
No. 1 in Management Information Systems by Wall Street Journal in 2010 (the latest such ranking conducted by WSJs) among universities that produced the best-qualified graduates
No. 3 in Information Systems Management by Eduniversal in 2015 among North American universities.
No. 6 in Quantitative Methods by U.S. News & World Report in 2016 among all U.S. universities.
