Mark Burgess

Mark BurgessMark is Director of Advanced Lean Enterprise and has additional responsibilities as Chief Information Officer, Phantom Works. His ALE organization has enterprise-wide responsibility for the development of common engineering tools that enable breakthrough levels of improvement in cost, cycle time, and quality. As CIO, Mark is the single Boeing interface between the enterprise Information Technology organization and Phantom Works. He reports to the President of Phantom Works and is a member of the Enterprise Engineering Process Council.

Prior to this assignment, Mark was Director of Air Vehicle Analysis and Integration on the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program. He was responsible for all air-vehicle-level design and development on the JSF. His previous positions on the JSF program include St. Louis site director and X-32 Air Vehicle Analysis and Integration team leader.

Mark joined Boeing in 1979 in Wichita, Kansas. Since then, he has worked on numerous programs, including B-52 and KC-135 upgrades, Transatmospheric Vehicle, National Aero-Space Plane, US Navy A/FX, and the DARPA Advanced Short Takeoff and Vertical Landing (ASTOVL) program. He has also worked in aerodynamics technology leading several research and design tool development projects.

Mark holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in aeronautical engineering and a Master of Science degree in industrial administration, all from Purdue University.

Mark and his wife Laurie live in Seattle with their two daughters. Mark enjoys sailing, golf, and hiking.
