About the Speaker: Jerry joined Amway’s Supply Chain Planning Department in Oct of 2004 as a planning analyst and later moved to the Operational Excellence department where he achieved his Black Belt. Upon certification, Jerry returned to the Supply Chain Planning group where today he leads a staff of planning professionals. Jerry received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University , and has held Supply Chain Management postions with Louisanna Pacific and General Electric, before joining Amway.

Karen Caswelch has experienced global success in senior level positions across industries. She is currently CEO of Akoya, Inc., a venture capital backed start-up company which provides intelligence for supply chain management. She has proven herself capable of thriving in fast paced, constantly challenging environments. Previously, Caswelch was VP of Purchasing at Allison Transmission, where she headed supplier quality, controlled the $16M expense budget and developed and led a purchasing plan to build low cost products in China and Korea. Caswelch also headed a department restructuring by instituting a zero tolerance standard for defects, ensuring overall product excellence. She achieved a $12M reduction in materials costs, a 30% improvement in supplier defects and $2M in departmental budget savings within 1 year.
As a manager at GM for 16 years, she developed supply chain management strategies for Asia Pacific, led a seven member regional team and monitored the establishment of order to delivery. She also realized more than $12M in savings across a three year project lifecycle by recommending a new project structure accepted by 75% of the global team. As Director of Manufacturing & Quality Planning for GM in Asia Pacific, Caswelch led manufacturing functions and built high caliber initiative teams. She realized a 30% improvement in “JD Power Initial Quality”, launched quality plan initiatives in Asia Pacific and was also recognized as a manufacturing expert, leading the Y2K readiness initiative for plants in six countries
Caswelch has an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and a BS in mechanical engineering from MIT. She holds the Managerial Excellence Award from National Women of Color, the Quarterly Diversity Champion Award from Allison Transmission and the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Center for Leadership Development. She also served as Chief Marketing Officer for the International School of Indiana in 2009. She currently serves on the boards of the Indianapolis Airport Authority and the International School of Indiana. She resided in Indianapolis, IN, is married to Tom, and has two children, Kristine (20) and Bobby (17).

Cara has been with HP for 16 years. At HP, Cara developed and diffused best practices in inventory management, network design, forecast accuracy, SKU reduction, product planning, manufacturing, and distribution.
During her personal time, the Cara spends time with her husband, two sons, and their dog. They enjoy hiking, camping, taekwondo, reading books, travelling, and watching movies together.

Gary Bear began his journey with Caterpillar thirty years ago. Starting in the shop, Gary has worked in supervision, quality, 6Sigma, New Product Introduction, Custom Packaging and for the last four years as the Supply Chain Planning Manager. He has a BS from Indiana Wesleyan University and an MS from Purdue.

She has been an Amway employee for eight years where she has undertaken a variety of planning roles, multiple process improvement projects, and currently leads a team of planning professionals.
Strategic Sourcing Manager
Mark Burton was born and raised in central Indiana and graduated from Purdue University in 1978 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and a minor in Economics. He interned with John Deere Harvester Works in 1977 and started to work full time at John Deere in May 1978 as a Manufacturing Engineer. Mark then received his Master’s in Business Administration in 1985 from the University of Iowa. He progressed through several Engineering and Manufacturing assignments and then transferred to Corporate as Regional Manager in International Purchasing; travelled extensively in Europe, South America, and Asia, and held responsibility for International Purchasing Office in Seoul, Korea. In 1993, Mark transferred to John Deere Davenport Works (Construction Equipment Division) as Manager of Strategic Supply Management. He was assigned as Manufacturing Manager in 1996 for Motor Grader and Excavator Division and named Program Manager for “C” Series Motor Grader in 1997. Transferring to Corporate M & A group in 1998, Mark assisted with share purchase of Bell Equipment in South Africa and was named Manager of Corporate Recruiting group in 1999. Mark led development of the first corporate recruiting process in 2000 and received his Certificate in Human Resource Management in 2001. Mark transferred to Corporate Supply Management group in 2001 and served as Strategic Sourcing Manager on both Steel and Tire/Wheel product groups. Global Tire and Wheel team is currently responsible for the commercial and strategic relationships with ~30 tire, wheel, and mounting suppliers, supplying components to 32 John Deere factories around the world. Total annual spend in excess of $1.2 billion.
Mark served on First United Methodist Church Council and chaired Staff/Parish Relations Committee along with leading a weekly men’s Bible study and singing in choir. He actively serves as a board member of United Way of Illinois and of United Way-Quad Cities. Mark was elected board chair for United Way of Illinois for the term starting in July 2014 and will be board chair of United Way of the Quad Cities, starting in July 2015. Mark has served as a past school board chair and library board chair (East Moline). He received the Spirit of Service Award from UWQC in 2002. Mark is married to Debbie Burton and has 5 grown children and 7 grandchildren. He lives in the country near Geneseo, Illinois, and enjoys fishing and golfing.
Associate Senior Procurement Agent
Bill Ensign is currently responsible for the purchasing of equipment, supplies, and services for Evonik Corporation - Tippecanoe Laboratories (formerly owned by Eli Lilly). He has worked in supply chain roles his whole 23 years of employment. He received his bachelor’s degree from Krannert in Industrial Management with an Industrial Engineering minor in December 1990. He is currently assisting in establishing the academic/business partnership between Evonik Corporation and Purdue.He is the co-founder of the Supplier Diversity Development (SDD) Coalition of Greater Lafayette - a group of major employers that invites diversely owned firms to present their capabilities. The coalition also shares procurement best practices amongst the members. Bill is recognized for his negotiating skills, his networking capabilities and his ability to “think outside of the box”. One of his most challenging career opportunities was his leading the supply chain component of Tippecanoe Laboratories through the changes associated with the sale/purchase of the facility switch. This included the establishment of all new supply chains for the products and services that the site requires to meet its mission. Bill has received many awards associated with his procurement role including the 2003 Eli Lilly Global Chief Procurement Officer Award, the 2008 Small Business Administration (SBA) Minority Small Business Co-Champion Award (along with Larry Pherson of Purdue), the 2007 Leadership and Vision Award from the SDD Coalition of Lafayette, and the 2003 Indiana Minority Supplier Diversity Council Buyer of the Year Award.

Elizabeth Menozzi is currently a Supply Chain Manager at Twitter where she is adapting product supply chain principles to large-scale data centers. Previously, she implemented S&OP at Microsoft and managed forecasting and planning for the launch of the Xbox 360 gaming console. She has worked on supply chains for products as commoditized as toilet paper (Kimberly-Clark), as complex as aircraft (Boeing), and as intangible as "negawatts" (PECI). Elizabeth holds a B.S. degree in Industrial Management from Purdue University, an M.B.A. from Seattle University, and an APICS CSCP certification.

In February 2005, Purdue University recruited Jesse Moore to create their first Office of Supplier Diversity Development. His challenge was to increase the opportunities and the number of contract awarded to women and minority owned businesses
Moore has also served as state procurement officer in the Office of Minority Business Enterprise (OMBE) within the State Department of Commerce, Executive Director of Economic Development and Small Business for the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, and Executive Director of the Indianapolis Black Chamber of Commerce.

Philip has also been an executive-level consultant for a decade helping address supply chain and procurement risks and opportunities with organizations as diverse as T-Mobile, Wyeth Biotech, American Transmission, and Unilever Corporation in the US and Europe to Nakheel, the huge Dubai UAE design and construction firm reposible for the world-famous manmade Palm Islands and many other innovative projects.
Philip and his team are currently leading a strategic and university-wide transformation at Purdue of procurement strategies, policies, practices and processes, organizational capabilities, informaton for decision-making, tools, systems and data. Philip was born and educated in Ireland before moving to the Unted States in 1994.

Craig has over 30 years of experiencing in manufacturing, operations, training, and continuous improvement. He graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Industrial Engineering in 1983. Upon graduation, Craig embarked on a 23 year career with R.R. Donnelley, North America’s largest commercial printer. He held positions in manufacturing, customer service, and culture change. Craig’s experience at Donnelley included managing start-ups, leading acquisition integrations, implementing continuous improvement efforts, and turning around troubled operations. He held a variety of roles from Manufacturing Management Trainee to Plant Manager. He received his Executive MBA in 1991 from Baruch College in New York City.
At ConAgra Foods, an $18+ Billion global food company, Craig has been leading continuous improvement efforts via ConAgra Performance System for over 5 years. His current assignment in Lean Supply Chain involves creating an optimized run strategy to improve working capital and customer service as well as reducing other supply and material handling losses. Craig’s organization leverages tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Warehouse Optimization, Value-Added/Non-Value Added Analysis, Rapid Changeover, and Non-Finished Goods Optimization to drive results across 40+ plants. Craig is also ConAgra’s liaison to Purdue for their recruiting efforts.
Dr. P. Christopher Earley
Dean and James Brooke Henderson Professor of Management
P. Christopher Earley assumed the role of Dean and James Brooke Henderson Professor of Management at Purdue University's Krannert School of Management on November 1, 2011. He is the former Dean and Auran J. Fox Chair in Business at the University of Connecticut School of Business and former Dean and Cycle and Carriage Chair at the Business School, National University of Singapore. Prior to that Prof. Earley was Chair and Professor of Organizational Behavior at the London Business School. He has held academic chairs at Nanyang Business School and Indiana University.
His interests include cross-cultural and international aspects of organizations, such as the dynamics of multinational teams, negotiation and conﬂict, the role of face in organizations, and motivation across cultures. He is the author of 10 books and numerous articles and book chapters, and his recent publications include Cultural Intelligence: Individual Interactions Across Cultures (with Ang Soon), Multinational Work Teams: A New Perspective (with Cristina Gibson), Culture, Self-identity, and Work and The Transplanted Executive: Managing in Different Cultures (both with Miriam Erez), Face, Harmony, and Social Structure: An Analysis of Behavior in Organizations, "Collective cognition in action: Accumulation, interaction, examination and accommodation in the development and operation of group efficacy beliefs in the workplace" (with C. Gibson, Academy of Management Review), and "Creating Hybrid Team Cultures: An Empirical Test of International Team Functioning" (with E. Mosakowski, Academy of Management Journal).
He has taught executives and consulted for companies such as Nestle, Cisco Systems, Samsung, General Motors, Unilever, British Aerospace, Mercury Asset Management, Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals and others in England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, People's Republic of China, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand, among others.
Dr. Manohar Kalwani
One America Professor, Senior Associate Dean and Head, Department of Management
Professor Kalwani is the Senior Associate Dean and Head of the Department of Management at the Krannert School of Management, Purdue University. His teaching interests include business marketing, global marketing management, and strategic marketing management. His current research interests are measurement and management of brand equity, the impact of order of market entry on product performance and firm survival, pharmaceutical marketing, and cross-category store brand purchasing behavior.
Among his recent publications are "Survival Determinants for Online Retailers" (with R. Nikolaeva, W. T. Robinson, and S. Sriram), Review of Marketing Science (2009); "Monitoring the Dynamics of Brand Equity Using Store Level Data" (with S. Sriram and S. Balachander), Journal of Marketing (April 2007); "Optimal Advertising and Promotion Budgets in Dynamic Markets with Brand Equity as a Mediating Variable" (with S. Sriram), Management Science (January 2007); "A Bayesian Multivariate Poisson Regression Model of Cross-Category Store Brand Purchasing Behavior" (with H. Wang and T. Min and W. T. Robinson), Journal of Marketing (January 2006). Kalwani has been the recipient of several prestigious teaching awards including the first R. B. and Mary Stewart Distinguished Teaching Award (1991-92), and the Salgo-Noren Teacher Award in 1989-90 and 1990-91. He has consistently published papers in leading professional management journals including Marketing Science, Management Science, Journal of Marketing, and Journal of Marketing Research.
He has supervised over 38 doctoral dissertations including 18 as the dissertation committee chair. Students whose dissertations he has chaired hold faculty positions at leading business schools here in the U.S. and abroad such as the Harvard Business School, University of Michigan, University of Kansas, University of Georgia, SUNY Buffalo, Babson College, The University of Hong Kong, Inha University in Korea, and Sabanci University in Turkey. Before joining the Purdue faculty in 1980, Professor Kalwani served on the faculty of the Sloan School of Management at MIT.
