Entitled Sustainability, the 2012 Fall Operations Conference, held on October 5 at Krannert School of Management, will bring together industry leaders, faculty and students to discuss existing challenges and set sights on new opportunities for businesses to integrate and improve sustainability into their supply chains, from design through delivery, in order to drive profits, growth and value. The aim of the conference is to provide attendees with the ideas, tools, and relationships that today's complex business environment demands.
Dr. George Shanthikumar, Director of the DCMME & GSCMI Centers and Richard E. Dauch Chair in Manufacturing and Operations Management, will lead the conference. The conference will also feature the student summer internship Poster Competition - students' posters will describe their summer internship experiences and will be judged by attending industry representatives.
This year’s conference gathered over 140 students, faculty and industry participants. Executives from Arcelor Mittal, Break Rubber Technologies, Caterpillar, 5 Kingdoms Development, General Motors, Ingersoll Rand, John Deere, Subaru, Verallia, and WALCO Tool & Engineering shared their unique experience and insight into the importance of sustainability.
As always, we would like to thank the generous sponsorship of our friends and industry partners for helping us make this annual event possible. With their financial assistance, we're able to provide monetary prizes for our wonderful group of students who enter the 2012 internship poster competition.
