Project Manager: Mary Pilotte

Research Assistants: Maurice Cadenhead (BSM 2011), Jamal Ratchford (PHD Candidate), Andria Smith (BSCE 2012), Pankaj Raut (MBA 2010), Sarath Sambandam (MBA 2010) & Apurva Sethi (MBA 2010)

Indianapolis accounting firm Katz, Sapper & Miller, LLP (KSM) once again generously sponsored research led by Dr. Ananth Iyer and the Dauch Center for Management of Manufacturing Enterprises in the 2009, Gear and Fulcrum study, a detailed survey of Indiana manufacturing operations across the state. The survey which is launched annually in April, reaches out to more than 6,000 manufacturing and operations focused firms. The purpose of research is to better understand how firms are successfully managing their operations from year to year, often in the face of very difficult economic and business environments.

Nearly 150 firms participated in this year's study over the summer of 2009, and we are pleased to share with you the final results (see link below). The exciting 2009 study results were recently shared at the annual Fall Operations Conference held Friday, September 25th, 2009 at Purdue University. Forty firms participated in the day long conference engaging Krannert students and faculty, as well as each other in best practice discussion, which wrapped up with an overview of the Gear and Fulcrum results.

We hope you enjoy the highlights from this important Indiana manufacturing study.

Thank you, Katz, Sapper & Miller!
