The Economic Education Grant Program

Indiana Department of Education

Each year the Indiana Department of Education sponsors a grant program in economic education.
The grants are competitive and open to Indiana school corporations, K-12.

 Two categories of grants are available:

1.     Start-up Grants

up to $1,000 for planning and initiating economic education programs.

2.     Program Improvement and Continuation Grants

of $1,000 to $2,500 for expansion and improvement of start-up grants.


Proposals should be 5-7 pages in length and should focus on integrating economic education into the existing curriculum. Some previous grant projects included the development of:

Grant monies may be used for a variety of purposes, including the purchase of curriculum materials and training in economic education. Monies may not be used for the purchase of computer hardware.

   CRITERIA USED TO DETERMINE GRANT WINNERS

  1. Measurable objectives
  2. Activities which support the goals and objectives
  3. Economic content
  4. Evaluation
  5. Number of students and teachers involved
  6. Long-range effects of grant
  7. Cost effectiveness
  8. Community involvement

Announcements of the grant program will be sent to superintendents in August.
Completed proposals are due in October, with winners announced in November.
