How we do what we do:

(1) When a paper is submitted, it is screened by the Managing Editors. A small number of papers are returned without refereeing.

(2) After this initial screening, the Managing Editors offer responsibility for a paper to one of the Editors.

(3) The Editor designates (normally, two) potential referees who are offered the opportunity to prepare a report.

(4) After receipt of the referee reports, the Editor takes a decision, which is normally either to reject the paper, to invite a revision that would be given further consideration, or (rarely) to accept the paper as is for publication.
