  • Winner of the 2017 Inaugural Wisdom from Failure Competition

    Mateo Menchaca

    wisdom from failure

A goal of the Wisdom from Failure Competition was to encourage students to “bounce back” after a failure. The program was organized so that the participants could learn from peers.
Krannert hosted this competition as last year Dean David Hummels was engaged in conversation with business leaders regarding key skills that they felt business schools should be cultivating in their students.
According to Hummels, “several business leaders said they wanted students who could “fail better” – too many students lack resilience to learn and rebound after following short.”
To remedy this, Krannert hosted our inaugural “Wisdom from Failure competition.”  Students wrote short essays reflecting on a personal failure, what they learned, and how they will move forward.
The finalists presented their reflections in front of an audience and judges.
Senior Jessica Miller directed this competition.
