Officers
The designations of offices
within the organization are thus: President,
Treasurer, Vice President of Alumni Relations,
Vice President of Faculty Relations, Vice
President of Academics, and Vice President of
Information Coordination.
Members must meet the requirement for
membership at the first meeting of each semester
to run for an office. Officers are elected by an
iteration in which rounds of voting for each of
the positions will/could take place.
Each round the candidate(s) with the
least number of votes will remove themselves
from the race.
In the event of a tie in the last round
of voting, then the elected officers will choose
the winner.
An individual may nominate themselves for
an office or be nominated by another member and
individuals may remove themselves from
consideration for an office.
The term of office for all positions is
one semester and elections will take place
during the spring and fall semesters.
An individual can hold no more than one
office at a time.
The faculty
advisor for the organization may hold the
position as long as they remain a member of the
faculty at
Purdue
University.
He/She will be chosen from a list of
prospective candidates by the officers of the
club and upon acceptance will become the acting
faculty advisor.
Positions
President
The President
is responsible for the overall operation of the
organization.
He/She will be expected to turn in all
paperwork in a timely manner.
They must also ensure that all organizing
for a scheduled event is completed.
He/She will also be in charge of
conducting meetings and votes.
Treasurer
The treasurer
keeps accounts, deposits the organization’s
funds, and makes expenditures in a manner
approved by the Business Office for Student
Organization.
He/She is also responsible for the
collection of dues.
Vice
President of Alumni Relations
The duties of
this office include contacting Alumnus of
Purdue’s Economics Program and requesting them
to come back to speak about their careers and
life after graduation.
Vice
President of Faculty Relations
The
responsibility of this office is to create a
bridge between faculty in the Economics
Department and Purdue students by organizing
events that allow members to get to know
professors outside of the classroom and improve
the learning environment.
Vice
President of Academics
The duties of
this office are to inform students interested in
economics on prospective paths through the major
and after graduation, such as: graduate school,
law school, and other possible careers.
Vice President of
Information
The
responsibilities of this office include:
advertising club activities, taking minutes at
meetings, and promoting knowledge of the club.
Vice
President of Recruitment
The duties of
this office are: to inform parties (interested
in joining the club) when and how they can
become members and, to hold a membership drive
at the beginning of each semester.
Vice President of
Careers
This
individual is responsible for getting
information and speakers about careers for
graduates from the economics department.
Vice President of
Programming
The duties of
this office are to organize general club
activities not covered directly by other Vice
President positions.
