Mike has more than thirty years of professional and executive oil and gas experience in both national and international locations, which include: Alaska, Colombia, Egypt, United Kingdom, Russia and Deep Water Gulf of Mexico.  He earned his degrees from Oklahoma- State University (Engineering) and Purdue University (Krannert Business School).  He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and is a licensed professional engineer in both Oklahoma and Alaska.

Prior to assuming his current role as President and Chief Executive Officer of Great Bear Petroleum, Mike held many leadership and management positions.  He was the Regional Operations Manager in Egypt for Apache (the largest oil producer in the country).-  In his last two roles in BP he was an Engineering Vice President and the Director of Petroleum Engineering where he was responsible for BP's global Petroleum Engineering staff of approximately 500 engineers as well as a global team of technical experts.  He- was also engaged in various global technical, organizational and operational reviews for all of BP's Upstream Organization, which included: Canada, Pakistan, Indonesia, Trinidad, Argentina, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Russia, Angola, Iraq and other countries.  In- other BP management roles Mike was the Deputy Director of VNG (Vareyogan Nefte Gas) as one the first Westerners ever in Russia's Sidanco Upstream Organization.  In this role he prepared for the highly successful TNK-BP Merger.  When he attended Purdue University- he was a Field Manager for the Cusiana and Cupiagua developments in Colombia.  In 1991 Cusiana was the largest discovery in the Western Hemisphere since the Prudhoe Bay, Alaska discovery in 1969.  Mike is third generation in the oil and gas industry; he started- his professional career with Exxon in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Mike met his wife, Liliana, in Colombia; they have now been married for almost 25 years.  They have two children: Michael and Leana. Michael recently graduated from Oklahoma State University and Leana is a junior at the same university.
