Melvin LenzySenior Global Brand Director
Melvin Lenzy hails from the birthplace of football Canton, Ohio, and is a 1991 graduate of Canton South High School. Lenzy moved to West Lafayette, Indiana, shortly after his high school graduation as a member of the 1991 Business Opportunity Program lead by Dr. Cornell Bell. He graduated from Purdue University with a BA in1995 and obtained his MS in Sports Management from Xavier (OH) in 1996. After graduation, Melvin and his wife Andy, also a Purdue graduate moved to Portland, Oregon as he took a job with the Portland Trail Blazers in the Client Services Division in the Trail Blazers marketing office. After a year with the Blazers, Melvin accepted a position with the Portland Power in the ABL (pre-cursor to the WNBA) a Women's Professional Basketball league as the Director of Basketball Operations and Marketing Services. In 1998, he moved back to Ohio to accept the Director of Marketing position at the University of Akron. In 2001, Lenzy then moved to Orlando, Florida to become the Brand Manager at Electronic Arts for two of the most successful video game titles in the history of video games, EA SPORTS NCAA Football and EA SPORTS Madden Football.
In 2004, Melvin joined NIKE as the Brand Manager, Footwear & Initiatives where his first projects were to launch NIKE FREE at Finish Line and the re-launch of NIKEiD footwear customization. Lenzy then joined the Asia-Pacific Brand Marketing team in 2005 as the Brand Manager for Basketball, Sport Culture & Energy, working on key NIKE Basketball campaigns like LeBron and Kobe athlete tours, Beijing 08 Olympics and the AF25 anniversary. In 2008, Melvin and his family moved to Taiwan as he served as the country Marketing Director. His team was instrumental in elevating the TPE6453 brand energy space to drive Basketball and Sportswear in Taipei and he was a key integral part of the Greater China marketing team. After returning from Taiwan in 2010, Melvin was the Global Brand Manager in Basketball where he focused on the Kobe Bryant marketing campaigns and seasonal innovation product launches. Later in 2010, Melvin served as the Senior Global Brand Director in Athletic Training where he has been responsible for driving the marketing vision for NIKE Pro Combat, and the Performance Footwear & Apparel innovations for the category.
Currently, Melvin is the Senior Brand Director for Kobe Bryant and Anthony Davis business in the Global Brand Basketball Category at NIKE.
Melvin has been married to his wife Andy for 17 years and he has sons Braden (15) and Maxwell (13).
