Roland W. Burris is serving as Manager/CEO of Burris & Lebed Consulting, LLC. It is a
strategic consulting service concentrating in the areas of public relations, governmental
representation, political strategies, and corporate strategies. He also serves as Of Counsel
to the law firm of Burris, Wright, Slaughter & Tom, LLC. His areas of legal
concentration are business transactions, estate planning, wills, trusts, probate, and
consumer affairs.
Mr. Burris is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Inland Real Estate
Corporation as an independent director and is Chairman of Governance and Nominating
Committee. Inland is a $2 billion Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), listed on the
NYSE, which own medium-sized shopping centers. As an independent director he serves
on the Audit Committee. He serves as director of the following not-for-profit
corporations: The National Center for Responsible Gaming as a non-industry director
working to provide research funds for studies into gambling addiction, The Auditorium
Theatre of Chicago, and an adjunct professor in the Master of Public Administration
Program at Southern Illinois University.
Mr. Burris’ career experience includes the following:
- Governor Cabinet, Director of the Department of Central Management
Services State of Illinois 1973-1977;
- Illinois State Comptroller 1979-1991;
- Attorney General for the State of Illinois 1991-1995;
- Vice President of Continental Illinois National Bank working both in the Trust
Tax Department and Commercial Lending 1964-1973;
- National Bank Examiner for the Comptroller of the Currency U.S. Treasury
Department 1963-1964.
He is married to the Dr. Berlean M. Burris, PhD, and is the father of two adult children,
Dr. Rolanda S. Burris, EdD, and Roland W. Burris II, Esq.
