Purdue MBA team wins Big 10 Plus Case Competition

A team of Krannert MBA students took first place at the Big 10 Plus Case Competition at Ohio State University on April 2, besting universities including Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State and Ohio State. First-year MBA students Humphrey Kanyoke, Matthew Kennedy, Paula Navarro and Christine Rasquinha, who aslo received “best presenter” honors,  had 24 hours to prepare a presentation focused on a business case for Installed Building Products, a leading manufacturer of insulation that recently launched a successful IPO with $1 billion of annual revenue. Pioneering women of Purdue to highlight annual Leadership Speakers Series

Purdue's Krannert School of Management and the Boiler Business Exchange of Indianapolis are proud to announce the guest speakers for the 17th annual Leadership Speakers Series: Beth Brooke-Marciniak, global vice chair-public policy, EY; Linda Clement-Holmes, chief information officer, Procter & Gamble; and Carolyn Woo, former CEO of Catholic Relief Services. This unique event, which celebrates outstanding Krannert alumni and honors the Boiler Business Exchange Hall of Fame inductees, will take place on September 28 in the Indiana Roof Ballroom. More

InnovateHER competition at Purdue gives entrepreneurs a chance to help women, families

Purdue and Greater Lafayette entrepreneurs can use their business ideas to make a significant impact on the lives of women and families and potentially compete for $70,000 in prizes through the 2017 InnovateHER Challenge. The InnovateHER Challenge was launched nationwide in 2015 by the U.S. Small Business Administration to highlight innovative products and services designed to assist women and families. It is sponsored locally by the Krannert School’s Jane Brock-Wilson Women in Management Center and the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship. More

EMBA rankings highlight program’s balanced format

Several recent rankings highlight the unique format of Krannert’s Executive MBA programs, which blend on-campus residencies and online learning, allowing students to maintain their professional and family lives while earning their degrees. Ivy Exec, in its 2017 rankings, named the Purdue EMBA program #1 for Life Balance among EMBA programs in the Midwest and #5 overall among schools in the Midwest. Krannert is the only business school to appear on the Ivy Exec list twice — the Purdue IMM Global EMBA program was named #8 overall and #4 for Global Experience in the U.S. Midwest. Also in 2017 rankings, CEO Magazine placed the Purdue EMBA at #12 among Global Executive MBA programs worldwide and the IMM program at #7 worldwide. More

Carolyn Woo rejoins Purdue to serve in global development capacity

Krannert alumna Carolyn Woo (BS ’76, MS ’76, PHD ’79) recently returned to Purdue as Distinguished President’s Fellow for Global Development. She retired in 2016 after serving for five years as president and CEO of the Catholic Relief Services, the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States. Woo’s ties to Purdue University began as a student in 1972, then as a faculty member and administrator until 1997 when she became the dean of the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business from 1997-2011. Young alums return to campus as part Rising Professionals program

Krannert graduates Karan Ahuja (BS’ 11) and Derek Mauk (BS ’09, MBA ’10) were among five young alumni who returned to the West Lafayette campus in March to celebrate their successes and inspire current students as part of Purdue’s Rising Professionals program. An extension of the Purdue Old Masters, the program recognizes distinguished alumni who not only have shown success in their early career, but also were involved on campus during their time as a student. Ahuja and Mauk also took part in a campus-wide panel that was open to Purdue students, faculty and staff. More

Alumna Beth Brooke-Marciniak receives the NCAA’s highest honor

Krannert alumna and former Purdue women’s basketball player Beth Brooke-Marciniak (BS ’81, HDR ’12), global vice chair of public policy at EY, received the 48th annual Theodore Roosevelt Award, the highest honor bestowed by the NCAA to an individual. The award is presented annually to a graduate from an NCAA member institution who earned a varsity letter in college for participation in intercollegiate athletics, and who ultimately has become a distinguished citizen of national reputation based on outstanding life accomplishment. Students team with Elevate Purdue Foundry Fund to invest in two startups

Elevate Purdue Foundry Fund officials recently designated two Purdue-affiliated startups with “Second-Tier Gold Award” and $80,000 in funding to advance their startups. Teams composed of competitively selected graduate students and seniors mainly from the Krannert School of Management in collaboration with Purdue Research Foundation professionals conducted diligence reviews for the startups. Karthik Kannan among three Purdue faculty named as Jefferson Science Fellows

Krannert professor Karthik Kannan was named to the 2017-18 class of Jefferson Science Fellows, an initiative of the Office of Science and Technology Adviser to the U.S. Secretary of State. The program is administered by the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine with the goal of engaging the academic community in providing science and technology advice in the process of formulation of U.S. foreign policy. Krannert graduate named prestigious Schwarzman Scholar

Purdue alumna Jing Su, who earned a BS in accounting and finance from the Krannert School in 2016, was named a Class of 2018 Schwarzman Scholar. She is the first Boilermaker and one of only 129 students from around the world to join this prestigious international program, which develops high-achieving students’ leadership skills and professional networks through a one-year master’s degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing, one of China’s most prestigious universities. Su will pursue a master’s degree in global affairs in China with an emphasis in economics and business. More

Finance professor Huseyin Gulen receives 2016 Jack Treynor Prize

Krannert finance professor Huseyin Gulen was named by the Institute for Quantitative Research in Finance (Q-Group) as one of three recipients of the 2016 Jack Treynor Prize, which honors superior academic working papers with potential applications in the fields of investment management and financial markets. Gulen was recognized for his paper "Extrapolation bias and the predictability of stock returns by price-scaled variables," which he co-authored with Krannert PhD student Stefano Cassella. More

Purdue hosts third human library to improve relations

The Krannert School hosted its third annual Human Library event in the Purdue Memorial Union in November aimed at fighting prejudice and improving relations among those from Krannert, the University and the Lafayette/West Lafayette community. Krannert’s Jane Brock-Wilson Women in Management Center, Purdue Libraries and the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Life's Inclusion Task Force sponsored the event. More

Purdue launches international campaign, alumni initiatives during trip to India, Taiwan

Purdue University President Mitch Daniels launched an international engagement campaign as part of Ever True: The Campaign for Purdue University, during an October trip to Bangalore, India, and Taipei, Taiwan. Daniels also announced a new doctoral fellowship program and presented a prestigious Pinnacle Award to TVS Motors for contributions of more than $1 million to Purdue. Krannert alumnus Venu Srinivasan (MS ’76, HDR ’14), chairman and managing director of TVS Motors, accepted the award on behalf of TVS. More
