1971
Thomas G. Gutteridge has been appointed as dean of the College of Business Administration
at the University of Toledo. He was formerly dean emeritus and distinguished
professor of management with the University of Connecticut, where he worked
for 19 years.
1981
John S. Howe has been appointed as Missouri Bankers Chair at the University
of Missouri-Columbia College of Business. In 2002, Howe received the prestigious
Kemper Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching. His articles have been published
in several academic journals. He is a member of the Financial Manage-ment
Association, the American Finance Association, and the National Association
of Corporate Directors. He earned the Chartered Financial Analysis (CFA)
certification in 1993. The Missouri Bankers Chair was created to serve the
educational needs of the Missouri banking community by encouraging students
to pursue banking careers and by teaching and conducting research related
to banking. The College of Business at the University of Missouri-Columbia
enrolls 3,200 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students.
1989
Robert Clark has been named the new dean of the School of Business Administration
at the University of Evansville. He was formerly associate dean for the College
of Business Administration and the director of the International Business
Institute at Butler University. During his time at Purdue, he was selected
as the Outstanding Business Instructor in 1986. He is the author of Africa's
Emerging Securities Markets, Developments in Financial Infra-structure and
numerous journal articles.
1992
Dianne Roden received the Trustee's Teaching Award for excellent teaching at
Indiana University - Kokomo, where she has been an instructor since 1992.

1972
Dennis Cirbes, MSM, has been appointed as vice president of labor affairs at
Ford Motor Com-pany. Cirbes, who was previously the executive director of
corporate labor affairs, has been with Ford since 1972 and has held human
resources positions in manufacturing, finance, personnel planning, marketing,
sales and service, and corporate labor affairs.
Karl Krapek, MSIA, has been elected to Visteon's Board of Directors, after
retiring in January 2002 from United Technologies Corporation.
1974
Marge Magner, MSIA, has been named chairman and chief executive office of Citigroup's
Global Consumer Group. She was previously chief operating officer for Global
Consumer Group. In her new responsibilities, she will lead Citigroup's efforts
to serve consumers through retail banking, cards, and consumer finance. In
addition, she will take on responsibility for finance, credit, and the overseeing
of all other staff functions. She has been with Citigroup Inc. for 17 years.
For the last three years, Fortune magazine has named her one of the 50 most
powerful women in American business, ranking her #5 in the 2003 results.
1976
Scott Schubert, MSIA, has been appointed as chief financial officer at NTL
Incorporated. Schubert, a member of the Krannert Dean's Advisory Council,
will be headquartered in the United Kingdom. He previously had been the executive
vice president and chief financial officer of WilTel Communications Group
since 1999. NTL Incorporated offers communications services to residential
and business customers throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.

1984
James Weinberg, MSIA, and his wife, Mindy, have a new addition to their family,
a baby boy named Jake Ryan, born October 14, 2002. Weinberg is the director
of customer service and order entry at Columbian Chemicals Co. in Marietta,
GA.
1985
Kaia Phillis, MSM, is now working in Indianapolis as a product manager for
Suros Surgical Systems, Inc., which makes a minimally invasive breast biopsy
device.
1986
John Larson, MSM, has married Mary Wernette, and writes that he now has two
great boys: Nicholas, 11, and Nathaniel, 10.
1987
Paul Varga, MSM, has been named chief executive at Brown-Forman Corp. effective
August 1, 2003. Varga, who has been with Brown-Forman since 1986, was previously
global chief marketing officer.
1989
Randall Lewis, MSM, has been named senior vice president of audit and process
improvement, and chief compliance officer, for Anthem Inc. In this role,
he will be Anthem's senior audit officer and will lead not only the company's
internal audit staff, but also its compliance, privacy, and security areas.
Lewis previously had been executive vice president and managing director
of corporate development at Wells Fargo & Co. Lewis is a member of the
advisory board of the Dr. Cornell A. Bell Endowment Fund at Purdue. Anthem,
through its subsidiaries, provides health-care benefits to more than 11.5
million people and is the fifth-largest publicly traded health-benefits company
in the United States.
1990
Jorge A. Romero Day, MSIA, is now general manager of Consorcio Mathiesen in
Buenos Aires after leaving Prosegur. He married Patricia Lopez last year,
and the couple is expecting their third child in May 2003. Day also recently
bought an export winery as a hobby and an investment.
1991
Caroline Cook, MSM, writes, "I recently left the corporate world to begin my
largest project yet, a new baby! Mark Harrison Cook Ippolito joined us on November
17, 2002. While the salary is not deep into the six figures, he is able to
pay me in smiles, which are priceless."
1996
Ted Doheny, MSM, has been elected vice president of Ingersoll-Rand Company
Limited, and named president of Ingersoll-Rand Business Services, a new position.
In the new position, Doheny will have leadership responsibility for the following
units: Ingersoll-Rand's Global Business Services, Ingersoll-Rand International,
IR Global Consulting, Design and Innovation Services, and Strategic Sourcing,
including corporate real estate. Previously Doheny served as president of
Ingersoll-Rand's Air Solutions unit.

1967
John Thompson, BSIM, has been appointed chief financial officer of Veraz Networks,
a leading global provider of carrier-grade next-generation telephony solutions.
Thompson was previously vice president of finance and CFO for Interwise.
In
his new role, he will guide Veraz's financial operations as it continues
its worldwide expansion.
1968

1972
Jay Ricker, BSIM, was elected to
the NACS (National Association of Convenience Stores) Executive Committee,
and will serve as NACS Vice Chairman of Industry Relations. He previously was
president of Anderson, IN-based Ricker Oil Co. Ricker is also past president
of the Indiana Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association, and is
a member of the board of trustees of Anderson Community Hospital. He lives
with his wife, Nancy, and their two children in Pendleton, IN.

1978
Thomas Kincannon, BSIM, has a new business venture, C3 Logistics, a technology
integrator focused upon the business application of converging data, voice,
and wireless technologies, which enable enterprises to provide more profitable
service solutions to their customers. Kincannon was previously vice president
and executive management team member of Dugdale Communications, a leading
regional voice and data integrator.
1982
Gregory Hayes, BSM, has been named vice president and controller for United
Technologies Corporation. Hayes was previously vice president, financial
planning and analysis and treasury, for Hamilton Sundstrand.
1984

1997
Amy Gustitus, BSIM, has recently married and is now Amy Mahoney. She has also
relocated to Indianapolis.
Geoffrey A. McCuen, BS (ACCT), writes, "I have recently joined Master Metal
Engineering in South Bend, IN, as their human resource & safety manager.
Master Metal is a precision machine shop that specializes in medical instruments.
I have also been accepted into the Indiana CPA Society. In the spring, I was
invited to join the Financial Advisory Committee for the State YMCA of Michigan."
In Memoriam

Gary L. Treesh, a student in Krannert Executive Education's 2001 Weekend
EMB Program, died June 21 of cancer at the age of 39. Gary initially applied
to and was accepted into the Weekend '98 program, but was unable to attend
due to his illness. However, he never lost the desire and tenacity to improve
himself and, in spite of his illness, joined the '01 program and completed
a year and a half of the three-year program before his death.
1968
Ezra U. Byler, BSIM, died in January 2003. He is survived by his wife, Sue
Ann.
1998
Jon R. McGee, a graduate of Purdue's IMaC MBA program, died unexpectedly on
August 9. Recently Jon celebrated 30 years of employment at United Technologies
Corp-oration. His most recent position was vice president of general procurement.
