Krannert
alum Jerry Rawls is flanked at the dedication podium by Associate Dean
Logan Jordan, Prof. Diane Denis, and Krannert at the Frontier Chair Dick
Dauch.
Jerry Rawls delivers a ceremonial pitch
to Krannert School senior Leighann Burke, who holds almost every Purdue
softball pitching record.
The
interior of Rawls Hall was adorned with bunting and converted into
a baseball stadium for "Opening Day" dedication activities.
The building actually was open in time for fall classes in August.
KGSA
President Tia Cummings shares a light moment at the podium as she represents
the student body at the dedication.
The
four-story, 128,000 square-foot facility features the latest wireless
technology and videoconferencing abilities, as well as airy, sunlit
gathering areas. |
The
Krannert School of Management celebrated an historic day on October 2 with
the dedication of Jerry S. Rawls Hall, the $35 million addition to the
Krannert School complex. The baseball-themed event took place on the third
floor of Rawls Hall in front of hundreds of alumni, staff, faculty, and
students.
Featured
speakers included Krannert Dean and Leeds Professor of Management Rick Cosier;
Purdue President Martin C. Jischke; Jerry Rawls (MSIA ’68, HDR ’01),
whose lead gift of $10 million finished the funding for the building; Dick
Dauch (BSIM ’64, HDR ’99), chair of the Krannert at the Frontier
campaign and a $5 million donor to the campaign; Prof. Diane Denis, finance,
a member of the Rawls Hall building committee; and Tia Cummings (MBA ’04),
president of the Krannert Graduate Student Association. The ceremony also
featured the reading of congratulatory letters from President Bush and Indiana
Senators Richard Lugar and Evan Bayh.
Following
the speeches and a rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" led
by Krannert student and Varsity Glee Club member Greg Stayte, Rawls threw
out ceremonial first pitches to Krannert students Brad Kriner and Leighann
Burke, members of Purdue’s baseball and softball teams, respectively.
