MSM Changes to MBA

In February, the Purdue University Board of Trustees approved a proposal to retitle Krannert's current master of science in management (MSM) degree as a master of business administration (MBA).

"Our program is already very similar to other top MBA programs, so we contemplate no changes in curriculum," says Richard A. Cosier, Krannert dean and Leeds Professor of Management.

All students currently enrolled in the MSM program have the option of earning the MBA, and all students entering the program beginning next fall and later will be awarded the MBA degree upon completion of their studies.

U.S. News Gives Krannert High Marks

Krannert's undergraduate program rose from 14th to 13th in the nation according to rankings released by U.S. News & World Report, released September 1. When compared to only public universities, the ranking is even higher, at ninth.

Several programs in the Krannert School were singled out as among the best departments in the nation. Purdue ranks third in production/operations; 10th in human resources; 13th in management information systems; and 14th in general management.

"We are extremely pleased to be ranked in the top 15 undergraduate business programs in the country," says Krannert dean Richard Cosier. "Our rankings were very good last year, and they've improved this year. We believe that to be a reflection of our attention to teaching quality and student services."
