Ambassadors ready Lilies House for reopening
Krannert’s Management Ambassadors helped ready the Lilies of the Field House in Lafayette for its reopening in March as an infant and newborn assessment center.
Students volunteered four days of their time last semester and this spring to do yard work, housecleaning, painting, and other chores, says Nanci Forney, coordinator of student development at Krannert and director of the Management Ambassadors.
The Lilies House was formerly used as transitional housing, with each stay limited to one family for three months at a time. Its new function will help more people in a shorter period of time, says Forney.
Created in partnership with Trinity United Methodist Church, the Purdue School of Nursing, and Ivy Tech State College, the new center at the Lilies House provides assessment services to low-income families in the area who can’t afford traditional healthcare.
