Mary Gear shares memories of her more than 25 years at Krannert during a retirement celebration in December. Joining the school in 1979, Gear served as an assistant to the dean during the administrations of former deans Keith Smith, Ron Frank, and Dennis Weidenaar, as well as current dean Rick Cosier.

Transitions, arrivals, and departures

The last six months have been a time of change at Krannert, filled with a number of new hires, retirements, and related transitions:

Prof. Diane Denis, finance, took over as associate dean for programs and student services from Prof. Jerry Lynch, economics, who will become academic director of the school’s full-time and executive master’s programs when he returns from sabbatical in June. ...

Kay Henry retired after more than a decade as the coordinator of the undergraduate Career Services Center. Erik Props, who worked closely with Henry over the years as an undergraduate advisor, has filled her position. …

Erika Steuterman, with Krannert Executive Education Programs (KEEP) since 1998, was promoted to major general in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and will leave KEEP in May to focus on her military duties and family. …

Carmen Castro-Rivera is Krannert’s new director of master’s programs admissions. She joins the school from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. …

Judith Nixon left her position as Krannert’s economics and management librarian to serve as head librarian of Purdue’s Humanities, Social Science, and Education Library. Replacing her is Tomalee Doan, who comes to Krannert from the University of Michigan …

Replacing Jennifer Budenz as Web marketing and development manager at Krannert is Tom Walsh, formerly of Purdue Marketing Communications. Budenz is now a Web developer in the Krannert Computing Center. …

Mary Gear, assistant to the dean at Krannert for more than 25 years, retired in December. She was succeeded by Kim Gilbert, who joins the school from the College of Engineering.
