The Business English and Culture Bootcamp (BECB) is an exciting program designed for international undergraduate and masters students who wish to enhance their Business English skills, develop a deeper understanding of business culture and customs, and gain the confidence needed to succeed in today’s global business setting.
Application - Those interested in attending the BECB are encouraged to register by May 9th, 2015. A brief selection process will follow. Payment is due by the first day of classes.
Program Details - Classes will be held at Purdue University in Rawls Hall/Krannert Building, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with lunch provided.
The program will be led by Purdue Instructors who have extensive experience working with specialized business English courses. The curriculum will include an intense English Practicum—reading, writing, vocabulary, citations, as well as in-depth exploration into cultural topics such as business and professional etiquette, corporate culture, management and gender, networking and other professional development practices. The cohort will also go on cultural trips, visit local companies to engage with business professionals, and hear from speakers from the Purdue and West Lafayette communities.
Students who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion and three university credits. Krannert undergraduate students, please note that these credits can be used to meet the requirement for Business Writing (English 42000). Master’s students, these credits do not count towards graduation.
Costs - Program cost is TBD. Cost will include lunch and snacks, books, materials and transportation to and from corporate and cultural visits. Payment will be due by the start of classes.
