Why should a prospective student choose the Krannert School of Management?

Krannert provides great professional networking opportunities as well as great courses with hands-on learning opportunities.  The faculty are excellent as well, in particular, the MS(A) program has many industry professionals teaching courses so you know the information they’re teaching you is relevant and important.

  1. What extracurricular clubs are you in involved in at Krannert, and how have they contributed to your experience?

I work full-time in the College of Engineering so I haven’t had much free time to get involved with clubs.  However, the Purdue Accounting Association club on campus provides students a lot of professional events where companies visit so I’ve taken advantage of attending many of those presentations. They’re great for students to learn more about what a career in accounting is all about and meet recruiters for different companies.

How would you describe the Krannert faculty?
I have been extremely pleased with the faculty in the MS(A) program. They are all excellent and it really shows that they really love what they do. They have been great a resources for any questions I have and were great mentors in the job search process.

How has Krannert helped develop your leadership skills?

Working on group projects and the opportunity to do things like acting as a quality reviewer for the Tax Practicum class have allowed me to develop my leadership skills.  Workings with others during class and on project work have allowed me to meet many new people.

How would you describe living in West Lafayette?

Convenient – I live four blocks from campus so that has been a big help for me in terms of commuting. Everything I need is within a 10-mile radius of campus which is excellent! Also – the best Reuben sandwich is at DT Kirby’s in West Lafayette, so check it out!

Away from Krannert, what do you do for fun?

I don’t have much free time but when I do, I enjoy being outside, biking, going to the farmer’s market downtown, and working out.  The new Co-Rec is such a great facility!

What do you like most about Krannert and Purdue?

I like the opportunities for professional growth the most – the faculty are always willing to give advice on your career, the job fair was an excellent opportunity to find a job, and the Experiential Learning Initiative courses were a great hands on experience. It was also great to see how relevant the course content was to my job at Purdue – it was fun to be able to apply the things I was learning in my real life job!

How have you been assisted in your job search?

The KPDC was very helpful in assisting with the job search.  In addition, participating in the job fairs on campus and company presentations was key in being successful in getting an offer.  There were several faculty and alumni that I was able to talk with to get advice on what career path I wanted to follow which was very helpful.  I was surprised how many people I met – all with a connection to Purdue.  That gave me a lasting impression on the quality of people that graduate from Krannert.

When we catch up with you in 10 years, what do you expect to be doing?
I’m not sure what the future holds but hopefully I’ll have an established career in accounting – I’d love to own a small business!
