Human Resources Intern, Shave Care, Procter & Gamble
This summer I have been interning in the South Boston Manufacturing Center (SBMC) at the Gillette World Shaving Headquarters for P&G. I’ve worked on several projects, such as supporting the quality assurance organization by facilitating team effectiveness training and designing and deploying a leadership training course around the 5E model for the Gillette Manufacturing Leadership Institute. Several of my projects are around learning and development, but I have also gained experience in organizational design, performance, and teams.
What has been your most meaningful internship experience?
There have been a lot of really great moments throughout this summer, but one I can think of in particular was at my mid-point review with my manager. There was a section to list strengths and opportunities, and the strengths that my manager listed were very sincere and linked to the culture of the company (P&G Success Drivers). These weren’t strengths I was expecting her to point out and it made me feel truly valued and a part of the team.
What has surprised you the most about your internship experience?
At P&G, I was most surprised by my summer work plan. They gave me projects that were truly impactful for the business. The work is challenging and rewarding. It’s a good balance between trusting us as interns and giving us big projects, but also providing the resources and support needed to succeed.
What has surprised you the least about your internship experience?
When I saw my summer work plan I felt very confident that I would deliver. The amount of career development and hands on experience Krannert provided was very helpful throughout the summer. There was nothing I felt unprepared for.
