Top Tip to Mentees:

One piece of advice would be to create a cover letter and resume in their freshmen year and go to at least one career fair for experience.  This helps with thinking more about career choices and becoming aware of what is expected when it comes time to start looking for internships. Another piece of advice, which I feel is extremely important, is getting involved.  Joining a club or going to a center that represents them, not only will help them meet others, but will help them overcome any apprehensiveness.  It will make a big university experience feel a bit smaller.  I was shy coming into college but made myself go to a religious center to meet people who I knew would share similar values.  As with me, this would help make a freshman feel more welcomed, at the same time will continue to increase their confidence as they make good friends like I did.
