Tip to Mentees:

  • Some tips I would give incoming freshman is to GET INVOLVED. I am still struggling to find organizations or clubs where I fit in. If I had the opportunity to go back to the beginning of my freshman year, I would tell myself this exact thing. The sooner you get involved  the better your college experience would be. I would also advise incoming freshman to get help whenever needed. Don't be afraid to take part in review sessions or attend professors office hours. Those opportunities are there to help you. So many times my freshman year I felt confused and stressed out about classes and materials but I didn't utilize these different opportunities given to help me. If I wasn't as shy and afraid I might have been able to save myself a couple crying sessions and sleepless nights. I would also highly advise to make a schedule and stick to it, don't procrastinate! That is the worst thing you can do as a freshman, or sophomore, or junior or senior, so you might as well get good at organizing your time now before it becomes a habit not to.
