Program History

The KMP program was founded in the fall of 2013 to encourage first year students to become a part of the Krannert community from day one. Incoming students are paired with a junior or senior who will become their mentor. Faculty director, Christine Jackson, and assistant director at the time, Christina King, teamed up with the School of Management Council (SMC) to design and develop the program. This initial program was 8 weeks long and consisted of 38 juniors and seniors who served as mentors to 100 direct admit students. The program was such a success it was expanded to 16 weeks and has been offered to all incoming Krannert students. For fall 2014 semester, there were 80 mentors and 126 mentees participate in the program. For fall 2015 semester, there were 80 mentors and 170 mentees. For fall 2016, we are aiming for 80 mentors and 160 mentees.
