Krannert alum Samuel Allen (BSIM '75), chairman and CEO of Deere & Company, delivered the Distinguished Executive Lecture to master's students on August 20. The lecture serves as the annual keynote for Unite Week, the orientation for incoming students.
Allen joined Deere immediately after his graduation. His first exposure to the company came through the Executives in the Classroom series, now known as the Krannert Executive Forum. He worked his way up in the organization over the next three decades, taking over in 2009 as just the ninth CEO in the 173-year history of Deere & Company.
