Clubs complement classroom learning

Thursday, February 9, 2012

Krannert master’s students learn from top faculty every day in optimal classroom settings in Rawls Hall. Thanks to student clubs, the learning doesn’t stop when class ends.

Krannert has 22 master’s student clubs, ranging from the National Association of Women MBAs to the Asian Business Club to the Krannert Entertainment and Sports Industry Club. “Clubs enrich the academic environment by providing opportunities for students to grow professionally, develop leadership skills, and share common interests,” says Joy Dietz, Director of Full-time Master’s Programs.

“Clubs also give students a chance to contribute to their profession, their community, and the world through service.”

Jen Bennett, Associate Director of Student Services, says students have plenty of opportunities to apply what they have learned in class. “Our student-managed clubs organize activities that run the gamut, including industry tours, guest speakers, case competitions, and golf outings,” she says. “The clubs play a significant role in creating the strong sense of community enjoyed by our full-time master’s students.”

This year, student clubs had an incentive to become more active. The Krannert Graduate Student Association (KGSA), with support from faculty and staff, offered financial bonuses to clubs. Clubs received extra funding for activities if they met certain criteria; 18 of the 22 clubs qualified for the incentive.

Here is a listing of the Krannert master’s student clubs.
