Krannert People
3+2 Student
Fort Wayne, Indiana
What do you like most about the Krannert School and Purdue?
"The Krannert School of Management is focused on personal and career development and exists within the student-focused, student-friendly culture of Purdue University as a whole. During my time here, the Krannert School of Management has afforded me many incredibly
unique opportunities - from interacting with professors and other distinguished faculty to being involved in the greater Purdue and West Lafayette/Lafayette communities. The camaraderie here is great, which allows for greater learning in a community environment
- both inside and outside the classrooms."
Why should a prospective student choose the Krannert School?
"Apart from the unique culture, the reputation and respect that academia and corporate America have for the Krannert School of Management enable Krannert graduates to succeed in whatever setting they pursue following graduation. Because I intend to spend some
time working in industry, the opinions of corporate recruiters are most important to me. A recent Wall Street Journal article announced that corporate recruiters rank Purdue University #4 among all universities nationwide. A logic-driven student like me can't
argue with that!"
What extracurricular activities do you participate in at Purdue?
"This year, I have the incredible privilege of serving as student body president. In addition to that office, I hold leadership positions in Purdue Foundation Student Board and Beta Gamma Sigma business honors society."
Have you had any internships while at Krannert?
"Through networking opportunities that I had last year through Krannert, I was able to learn about and, ultimately, be selected for a finance internship at Raytheon in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Working for a billion-dollar Department of Defense contractor, I was
able to complete much hands-on experience in corporate finance while contributing to my personal and professional development."
How have you been assisted in your job search?
"Within the Krannert curriculum, there are multiple courses aimed at career development and overall job searching strategies. Beyond those courses, many of my professors spend time encouraging their students to build their resumes while providing opportunities
for involvement on campus and experience in research.
"Krannert Career Services and Purdue's Center for Career Opportunities provided me assistance in applying for my past internship and helped prepare me through resume critiques, mock interviews, and several corporate networking opportunities."
Who is the person, business world or otherwise, that you most admire, and why?
"The answer to both is the same - my dad. Whether it was teaching me life lessons as a child or helping me understand corporate accounting techniques today, I have always been amazed and inspired by the breadth and depth of knowledge my dad has - even without
a college degree. Through hard work, a relentless determination to succeed, and a humble willingness to serve others, my dad his lived his life to be the example of success."
When we catch up with you in 10 years, what do you expect to be doing?
"I hope to be wrapping up a successful career in industry and preparing to return to a university-setting - hopefully Purdue - to inspire and teach the next generation of business leaders."
Away from Krannert...what do you do for fun?
"Purdue currently has 909 active student organizations, all of which host countless programming events and activities that are a blast! I also spend time unwinding with my friends at athletic events (Boiler Up!) or at varying locations on- and off-campus."
