What do you like most about the Krannert School and Purdue?
"Being from out-of-state, I frequently get asked the question by other students, 'So, why did you choose Purdue?' I tell them that the main reason why I decided to attend Purdue is because of the Krannert School of Management. Krannert has an excellent reputation
and is ranked highly by a number of well-respected sources. Krannert possesses something that distinguishes it from other highly ranked business schools. People at Krannert want to make your experience worthwhile, and they do that by adding a personal touch."
Why should a prospective student choose the Krannert School?
"Whether it is your advisor, professor, or other students, everyone involved in Krannert truly cares about making every student's experience a good one. There is a great sense of pride and community among Krannert students. At Krannert, you are not treated
like a number, which is something that could easily happen at a university the size of Purdue. Here, you get a sense that they really care about you being a part of their community and staying attached once you graduate. It's nice to have a strong support
system that you can go to for help and advice. The knowledge that I gain from both within and outside the classroom will definitely prepare me to be a leader in the business world."
What extracurricular activities do you participate in at Purdue?
"I am fortunate to have the opportunity to be a member of the School of Management Council (SMC). The Krannert students in this organization are outstanding on all fronts, and it has been a great experience to learn from every one of them. I really look up
to the upperclassmen, as they all have been successful at Krannert and really have their acts together. Being the future SMC Committee Chair of the BGDLF leadership conference, I will be responsible for working with a team to organize, plan, and run a three-day
leadership conference in Indianapolis for the top 100 management students in 2013. I am really looking forward to the challenge and being so involved with this exciting leadership event. Additionally, I am in the Emerging Leaders program, where I get to meet
a diverse group of leaders from throughout the university. It's a unique opportunity to network and learn from others. Also, I am a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Eta Sigma, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the Purdue Outdoor Sports Club."
How have you been assisted in your job search?
"Purdue and Krannert offer a wealth of resources for all of us to tap into. The Krannert career fairs are an awesome experience and a great way to get things going. In addition to tapping into the tools and resources here, you need to be proactive and take
charge of your career search, especially if you are looking for an opportunity in your hometown area. It is often one of those things where you get out what you put in. However, what I value most is the support of my advisor and other Krannert advisors and
faculty, along with the great people in the career office."
Who is the person, business world or otherwise, that you most admire, and why?
"The person who I definitely admire the most is my mom. Both of my parents have worked extremely hard within their professions. Being a women in business, my mom has had to work extra hard to be where she it today and I respect her non-stop determination. Despite
the fact that she has piles of work, she has always been there for me and has never missed any of my school events, tennis matches, basketball, soccer or baseball games, concerts, etc. She even would use her work lunch time to eat hot lunch and read stories
to my class or play kickball with me and my friends at recess when I was in elementary school. I don't know how she has done it! Whether it be earning a CPA, writing a strategic business plan to help keep the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team in town, getting
her MBA from the University of Chicago, or just being a caring and loving mother--who by the way makes killer chocolate chip cookies--I am proud to say she's my mom."
When we catch up with you in 10 years, what do you expect to be doing?
"Throughout my life, I have developed a business mindset, particularly when it comes to marketing. Being at Krannert has heightened and expanded this interest and way of thinking even more for me. Thus, I hope to have a career within the marketing field so
I can utilize everything that I will have learned from Krannert into something that I love to do. After working a few years, I plan on attending graduate school to earn my MBA. And of course, I hope to be married and start a family of my own. I can picture
it: a marketing job that I love, a nice house, big yard, a few kids, and a smiling golden retriever running up towards me as I come home from work."
Away from Krannert...what do you do for fun?
"One of the things that I enjoy the most is being around my family and friends. These are the people that make you happy in life. Also, I am a big fan of Purdue athletics. Going to the basketball and football games is a blast. Being from Milwaukee, I have so
much fun tailgating at Brewers games, going to Summerfest, which is an 11-day musical festival on the lakefront, and skiing during the winter."
