What do you like most about the Krannert School and Purdue?
"I most like the fact that, even though Purdue is a large school, its location and atmosphere still make it feel comfortable."

How would you describe West Lafayette?
"West Lafayette offers opportunities for all kinds of activities that smaller cities usually don't have--like a symphony orchestra and all the shows Purdue Convocations puts on. It's also a great area for families, with schools that are rated some of the best in the state."

Why should a prospective student choose the Krannert School?
"The Krannert School receives great support from the University, from alumni, and from the community. That has allowed Krannert to recruit top-rate faculty; to build and maintain quality facilities for the School; and, ultimately, to help students find the jobs they want."

What do you enjoy most about teaching?
"I most enjoy getting to know my students and talking to them about anything--coursework, career goals, and life in general. I usually teach pretty big classes, which makes it hard to connect with all my students, but establishing that connection with students is still what I enjoy most about teaching."

How would you describe your teaching style?
"I'd say it's pretty traditional. I spend most of my time in class lecturing, but I try to include a lot of examples that I hope students will find relevant."

How would you describe your fellow faculty members at Krannert?
"My colleagues at Krannert genuinely seem glad to be here. That enthusiasm helps make work seem less like work."

What are your current research interests?
"I spend most of my time teaching, but I'm interested in research in applied microeconomics. I like to see what economic theory predicts about how people behave and then find some way to test that theory to see if we really act the way economic theory says we should."

What are some of your hobbies?
"I play the piano and the violin, and I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with my family."
