Technical Management Institute Overview
The Technical Management Institute at Purdue University (formerly Engineering Management Program) is October 7-10, 2014. It takes place annually on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The Technical Management Institute is appropriate for new and aspiring managers of a technical workforce, as well as more seasoned technical management who would benefit from the program’s current offerings. The 2014 topics will be Introduction to Lean Six Sigma, The Dynamics of Leading Technical Employees, Cost Management, The Product Development Cycle, and Program and Project Management. The thrusts of the program are to:
- help the manager understand the management of business costs, the product development cycle, and the dynamics of cross-fuctional project management.
- help the manager translate business objectives for the technical workforce and establish a bottom-line emphasis
- provide current perspectives on leadership and project management in the technical arena
- expose the manager to the business objectives and technical applications of leading improvement processes
The program attracts learners from a variety of professions so the networking and idea sharing become as valuable as the in-classroom learning.
The classes are held in the Krannert Center for Executive Education and Research. A block of rooms is being held at the Purdue Memorial Union Club Hotel, which is across the street from Krannert Center.
