Application Instructions and Deadlines

The goal of our Executive Admissions Office is to help guide you smoothly through the application process.

The EMBA application for the Krannert School of Management must be completed using Krannert’s online application.

As a reminder, applications will not be considered until all required materials have been received.  This includes submission of the non-refundable application fee, payable online by credit card.  All documents must be received by the deadline to which you are applying (see box to the right).

 A description of the required application materials is as follows:

Two Recommendations

We prefer that recommenders be employers who are able to render an opinion on the basis of close, current, and sustained observation. At least one of your letters should be from the candidate’s direct supervisor.  Recommendations from friends, family members, acquaintances, and other sources unable to evaluate professional or academic qualifications for MBA study are not acceptable.  No more than two recommendations are needed.  We require your recommenders to submit the recommendations online (instructions to do so are provided within the online application).

Academic Transcripts

Two official transcripts from each higher institution attended as a registered student, regardless of the number of courses taken.  Please use the Academic Request Form (available for download within the AY online application, make copies as needed) to request an official, attested transcript from each of the colleges and universities you have attended. Transcripts must arrive to Krannert Executive Admissions office in a signed, sealed envelope from the issuing institution.

Additional Information for International Students

  • Two official transcripts for each higher institution attended as a registered student, regardless of the number of courses taken;
  • transcripts must indicate “grades earned” for all courses taken;
  • original language transcripts must be supplied as well as certified English translations of those transcripts;
  • photocopies of transcripts are not acceptable unless certified by the issuing institution that they are true copies of the original documents;

  • A bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, equal to four years of study, is required.

Language Assessment Tests (International Applicants)

Applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit the Pearson Test of English (PTE), Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores for Purdue University Graduate School admission.

* International applicants who are U.S.. citizens, or who hold a green card, are exempt from the PTE, TOEFL, and IELTS.

The total TOEFL score required by the Purdue Graduate School is 77. In addition, minimum scores must be met in each area tested:

If you elect to take the IELTS rather than the TOEFL, the score achieved must equal 6.5; there is no minimum test area scores required.

Official Test Scores

GMAT for those who feel their application needs to be enhanced. The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) administers the GMAT test. An official institutional copy of your GMAT score report must be sent from the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) to the following school codes: Executive MBA - 1RZ-R6-45

The GMAT is not a blanket requirement for admission. Substantial work experience and/or prior graduate education may allow the GMAT to be waived. Nonetheless, the test is strongly recommended for program applicants, and a good score on the test will enhance any applicant’s chances for admission. The test may be required of applicants whose other credentials need strengthening. These decisions will be made by the program’s admissions office on a case-by-case basis. In addition, a personal interview may be required of certain applicants, again where there are issues related to the strength of other credentials.
