Accreditation:  EMBA program requirements are consistent with the specifications of our accrediting body, the AACSB International— The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business— and the Purdue University Graduate School.

Each applicant must provide the following:

  1. A completed AY application and $55 application fee.
    Please visit https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=purdue-som to complete our application. You will be prompted for the fee before you submit the application online.

  2. Two letters of recommendation on company letterhead; one of the letters should be from the candidate’s direct supervisor.

  3. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score report or the International English Language Testing System test (IELTS) —either is acceptable— for persons whose native language is not English.
    Touch https://www.ets.org/toefl or http://www.ielts.org/default.aspx for more information.

    • The total TOEFL score required by the Purdue Graduate School is 77. In addition, minimum scores must be met in each area tested:
         writing=18;
         speaking=18;
         listening=14;
         reading=19.
    • TOEFL scores must be no older than two years at the time the application credentials are reviewed by the Purdue Graduate School. Scores must be documented by an official report from Educational Testing Services and sent to Purdue University, institution code #1698. Please select: “PURDUE UNIV,WL/EXECUTIVE MBA” on the test form.
    • If you elect to take the IELTS rather than the TOEFL, the score achieved must equal 6.5; no minimum test area scores are required.
    • International applicants who are U.S. citizens, or who hold a green card, are exempt from the TOEFL or IELTS.

  4. Two official transcripts from each higher institution attended in sealed university envelopes.

    International Students Must Provide:

    • transcripts that indicate "grades earned" for all courses taken
    • original language transcripts must be supplied as well as certified English translations of those transcripts;
    • photocopies of transcripts are not acceptable unless certified by the issuing institution that they are true copies of the original documents;
    • transcripts must indicate the date of graduation and the degree conferred; if they do not, an official or certified diploma in the original language and a certified English translation of that diploma from the issuing institution are required; and
    • a bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, equal to four years of study.

  5. A GMAT score of 520 or above for those who feel their application needs to be enhanced. Scores must be documented by an official report from Educational Testing Service (ETS) and sent to Purdue University, institution code 1698. Please select: "PURDUE UNIV,WL/EXECUTIVE MBA" on the test form.
    • The GMAT is not a blanket requirement for admission. Substantial work experience and/or prior graduate education may allow the GMAT to be waived. Nonetheless, the test is strongly recommended for program applicants, and a good score on the test will enhance any applicant’s chances for admission. The test may be required of applicants whose other credentials need strengthening. These decisions will be made by the program’s admissions office on a case-by-case basis. In addition, a personal interview may be required of certain applicants, again where there are issues related to the strength of other credentials.
    • Applicants who have completed a post-graduate degree from an accredited university generally will be exempt from the GMAT requirements. Exemption decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
