Ever since Spain entered the European Economic Community in 1985, the Spanish economy has changed a great deal over the last 25 years. This course provides a background on the history of the Spanish economy and its transition onto the global economic stage at the start of the 21st century.
This course will cover Spain's relationship within the EU and the global market, the cultural similarities that have allowed Spain to be the bridge between the European (EU) and various countries of South America, Spanish business strategy within the EU and Latin American markets, as well as Spanish cultural diversity. Numerous cultural excursions, a company visit and a case study of a Spanish company that has developed successful business strategies will also be included.
This course comprises two parts. In part one, the focus is placed on Spanish cultural traits to provide the participants with a better understanding of consumer behavior and values as well as business attitudes in the region. In part two, a series of case studies are presented and discussed to analyze marketing strategies implemented by a Spainish company in order to identify successful factors within the European economy.
The fees covers lodging for six nights, based on double occupancy. Students will have an orientation to Madrid, a guided bus tour of the city, a transit pass that provides free transportation around Madrid. The fee also includes a guided tour of the El Prado museum, a wine tasting tour, and a farewell dinner on the last day of the program. Side excursion to the ancient city of Toledo is also being planned, dependent on scheduling availablity.
