Join the Team
 Teamwork is a priority at Krannert, and our graduates earn high marks from recruiters for their collaborative skills. Working together, teams accomplish much more than individual students or employees could alone. Yet how does a diverse group of people with different mindsets and educational backgrounds accomplish a common goal? You'll learn the answer the first day you arrive at Krannert - and every day afterward.

UNITE Week
Before fall classes begin, UNITE Week provides first-year master's students with a thorough orientation to the school and its team-oriented philosophy. The program includes:

  • Alumni advice
  • Graduate Career Center (GCS) introduction
  • Myers-Briggs personality profiling
  • Getting to know faculty
  • Meeting your cohort teammates and your team mentor, who will help you through the first eight weeks
  • Overview of computer resources
  • Diversity workshop
  • Distinguished Executive Lecture - Hear a top executive and Krannert alum provide tips for success in the business world. Recent speakers include Beth Brooke, global vice chair of Ernest & Young LLP, David Brown, president and CEO of Owens Corning, and Joe Forehand, chairman of Accenture.

Krannert Master's Students

Cohort Teams
Your assigned cohort team will include three or four other first-year students and remain together for the first eight weeks of the semester. You and your teammates will attend classes and tackle assignments as a group. To ensure well-rounded teams, Krannert matches up individuals with varying backgrounds. Diverse teams can attack problems from many different angles, and members can learn from one another's experiences.

Each team also has a second-year student mentor who helps each person settle in and get accustomed to Krannert. In addition, your mentor can help facilitate meaningful interaction among team members. Discussing viewpoints with people who come from different cultures will provide fresh perspectives and help you think in new ways.

Teamwork continues even after the first module, but in a different way. You'll learn to work on different project-oriented teams throughout your time at Krannert - and how to use your enhanced skills in the workplace.
