Purdue University Graduation Ceremony

Purdue University is on a semester system. Each semester, including a final exam week, lasts approximately 16 weeks.

In the fall semester, there are partial-week breaks in October (October Break) and in November (Thanksgiving). In the spring semester, there is a full-week break (Spring Break).

PhD students typically stay in residence during some of the summer months. Two key social events during the year are the PhD Fall Banquet and the Spring Picnic. In addition, there are weekly brunches every Friday for PhD students.
