Program Summary
The management information systems concentration focuses on the issues and problems related to the current and future role of the computer technology in assisting the management function. Research addresses problems that arise in managing an organization's information resources, as well as problems that arise in designing new systems.
Current research areas include theory and applications of e-commerce, infrastructure design and analysis, decision support system, group decision support system, expert systems, data mining, data warehousing, database management systems, and economics of information systems. In addition to the coursework in fundamental areas of management such as accounting, finance, quantitative methods, and economics, students may take advanced courses in industrial engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, sociology and psychology.

The program of study for a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems is designed to help each student develop her/himself into a first-class researcher and to help each student develop her/his skills in teaching and gain experience in teaching Management Information Systems.
