My name is Thomas Godwin, and I am a PhD candidate in Management (Accounting) at the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University. My primary research interests are in the areas of taxation and financial reporting. I currently teach MGMT 50400 (Tax Accounting) and MGMT 59000 (Tax Practicum) at Purdue University.
Prior to coming to Purdue, I worked for four years at a large, regional public accounting firm where I provided tax and consulting services to large companies in the real estate industry, including commercial and residential real estate development, hotels, construction, and mortgage servicing. In addition to real estate, I also furnished tax and consulting services for large public manufacturing and distribution companies, private equity funds, closely held businesses, and high net worth individuals. I gained significant experience in corporate taxation, partnership taxation, and state and local taxation. I have worked extensively with partner allocations, basis adjustments, and multi-state tax issues.
I have been a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of South Carolina (#8427) since January 2012 and have held a Chartered Global Management Accountant designation since August 2014. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Clemson University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. In 2010, I also earned a Master of Professional Accountancy degree concentrating in taxation from Clemson University. I am committed to high quality research as well as service to the community and the profession. Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or comments.
