Accounting
Accountants play an important role in preparing and interpreting financial information used by decision-makers in a wide range of organizations. Individuals with an in-depth knowledge of accounting and high standards of integrity are in high demand.
Graduates typically work in corporations, public accounting firms, consulting firms, non-profit organizations, and government. With this degree, you can also apply to professional degree programs in accounting to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam or, if your choose to do so, a 150-Hour Plan of Study and Certficate is now available which meets the requirements necessary to sit for the CPA exam.

Students in this program earn a Bachelor of Science in Management. If you choose to major in accounting, you will take general university courses your first year and then complete our core business classes- accounting, finance, marketing, management information systems, operations, strategic management, business law, as well as six additional upper level accounting courses. With this degree, you can pursue career opportunities in accounting, or apply to professional degree programs in accounting to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
During your first year at Purdue, you will take general university coursework. Listed below you will see the kinds of classes students majoring in accounting take their freshman year. Students usually take five courses (about 15 credit hours) each semester. A semester lasts for about 16 weeks.
