2010 Taiwan Spring Break Program

Asian Emerging Markets and Economies
A rewarding immersion experience in Asian business, language, culture, and food

Location: Taipei, Taiwan

Dates: March 14 - March 20, 2010

Host: National Chengchi University

Eligibility: The program is open to Krannert undergraduate students.

Callout: October 21, Wednesday, 6:00 PM, Rawls 3082

Study Topics: Basic Mandarin, High-tech industries, Taiwan and Mainland China relations, Chinese Philosophy and Decision Mindset, Asian business environments.
Company Visits: One-day visit to Hsinchu Science Park, one of the world’s most significant areas for semiconductor manufacturing, housing Acer, Taiwan Semiconductor, Logiteck, Foxconn, BenQ, etc.

Sightseeing: One-day city tour before the program, including the National Palace Museum, business and shopping areas, etc.

Culture Events: Taipei Eye professional show.

Evening Activities: Group outings with local students to explore the city.

Credit: Each participant will receive one credit

Cost: $282 including $250 for lodging and local transportation in Taiwan and $32 for the Purdue study abroad insurance. Students are responsible for the airfare to Taipei. This program is substantially subsidized by private donations and the Krannert School of Management.

Flights will be purchased by students. (We advise students to wait until December or January to book flights. Students are encouraged to book flights to depart on Friday, March 12th, in order to join a city tour on March 14.) It is students’ responsibility to make arrangements with instructors if they have classes on March 12th.

Students withdrawing from the program before February 12, 2010 will receive a refund of $180.00. Students withdrawing after February 12, 2010 will not receive a refund.
