A student in Krannert may pursue a major in Marketing or a concentration in Marketing.
Students majoring in marketing will need to complete a total of 120 credit hours and successfully complete five three-credit courses in marketing. The marketing area offers five elective courses: brand management, business-to-business marketing, international marketing, marketing planning and research, and new product development.
The marketing area allows students to substitute one of the five marketing courses with either the Principles of Selling Agricultural Business offered by the Agricultural Economics Department or the Introduction to Advertising offered by the Brian Lamb School of Communication. The Ag course in personal selling prepares marketing students for positions in sales management. The Com course prepares marketing students for brand management or advertising management positions.
The marketing major prepares students for positions in brand management, marketing management in business-to-business companies, sales management, marketing analytics, and social marketing.
A concentration, which is similar to a minor, can usually be completed as part of your required 120 credit hours. Please look at our list of concentrations to see which areas interest you. Each concentration requires about 12 credit hours.
Talk with your advisor about your career plans. They can help you decide which major and concentration(s) are right for you. They can also help you find opportunities for leadership and growth through clubs, organizations or study abroad programs.
