Economics

Right now could be your time.

The world’s markets seem to constantly be on the brink of chaos. The stakes are high and the danger is real. Economists perform the analysis, formulate strategies and implement action to restore or maintain order.

This could be you.

The Economics major will hone your analytical skills by exposing you to real-world economic issues. With this degree, doors will be opened to consulting firms, investment banks, government agencies, marketing firms and financial trading companies.

Earn this degree and when world and business leaders need answers, they’ll be looking to you for answers.

The coursework begins with the economic behavior of consumers and firms and moves on to concepts such as unemployment and inflation. Then you choose from a wide range of advanced courses, including labor economics, banking, industrial organization, econometrics, international finance, and international trade.

To earn your bachelor's degree at Purdue students usually take five courses (about 15 credit hours) each semester. A semester lasts for about 16 weeks. For additional information on the Economics program, you are encouraged to visit the Economics department Web site.
