Many students choose to earn a major in management. Under this degree option you take courses in math, liberal arts, and science along with our core management classes in accounting, economics, finance, marketing, strategic management, management information systems, and human resource management.

If you choose to major in management, you will have the opportunity to specialize (earn a minor) in a business area that you find interesting. The minors that we offer for our management majors are accounting, economics, finance, human resources, international business, management information systems, and marketing.

During your first year at Purdue, you will take general university coursework. Listed below you will see the kinds of classes students majoring in management take their freshman year. Students usually take five courses (about 15 credit hours) each semester. A semester lasts for about 16 weeks.

Typical First Year Coursework:

During your sophomore year, you will begin taking introductory management courses. A typical schedule for your second year in management will look something like this:

  • Electives - Fine Arts and Literature
