University Probation and Drop Indexes

NOTE: All USP students on academic probation are required to participate in the Laying Tracks program.

If you are on scholastic probation, you will be dropped from the University at the close of any regular semester your graduation index is less than that required of a student as shown in Table 1 or you receive failing (F) grades in six credit hours or more for the semester.

If you are dropped by this rule and are later duly readmitted as a regular student, you will be readmitted as a regular student on probation.

You can be dropped from the University if you are on probation from the previous semester and

• You receive six credit hours of "F" during the current semester, or
• Your graduation index drops below the specified level indicated in Column B in Table 1 below.

A student who has been dropped from the University must apply for readmission to the University.  If you are permitted to re-enter the University, you will do so on probation.  

Classification

Your classification reflects the number of semester hours completed.

Probation and drop status cannot be changed by taking summer school classes.

Column A designates the minimum semester and/or graduation grade point average a student must maintain, each year freshman through senior, to be in good academic standing.

Column B designates the minimum graduation grade point average a student on probation must maintain in order to remain in school. (Student must have been on probation the prior semester before he or she can be dropped from the University.)
