The purpose of the MAI/EAI is to give all Krannert students a common academic background and to allow the student an opportunity to acclimate to the academic environment at Purdue.  If a beginning or transfer student has completed some or all MAI/EAI courses, then an alternate MAI/EAI will be defined as follows, using courses required for the student's Krannert major and after consultation with the student's academic advisor:

1)  The alternate MAI will consist of at least 4 courses for at least 12 credits minimum for Management* and Industrial Management students.  The alternate EAI will consist of 5 courses for at least 15 credits.

2)  Alternate courses will be similar to those in the original MAI/EAI (i.e. ECON 252 in lieu of ECON 251; STAT 225 in lieu of MA 224; COM 114 in lieu of ENGL 106).

3)  Only courses with grades earned on a Purdue campus will be used to calculate the alternate MAI/EAI.

4)  Attain 3.0 MAI GPA for all majors except Industrial Management and Economics.

5)  Attain 2.85 (2.65 for Fall 2014 plans of study and forward) MAI GPA for Industrial Management.

6)  Attain 2.75 EAI GPA for Economics.
